And the flashback scene is over and done with. Maybe next strip I'll be able to up the quality so I can signify that we're back to 'Real Time'

And we'll also check to see how Melody's been doing. Scarlet too.

Before you go on, you could probably consider it being a flashback as an excuse for the rushed quality. Or at least that's what I'll say to dodge some of your complaints.

... personaly? A talking head of a rabbit on the table top creeps me out.

Sorry about that. But where else would Pippkin want to place his head when his host wants some fresh air?

Coat rack?

Good answer, good answer. ^-^

---

A girl speaking to a disembodied head of a rabbit... It sounds a lot like something made by Jan Svankmajer

Especially when it's mostly a monologue up to the next strip.

Will you have a man dressed as a rooster throw a rock at a blow up doll of a fat woman in there?

Don't tempt me.

Please do that... I always want to see how on heavens you'd make that relevant to the story.

Took me a while due to all the ideas in my head with my other projects as well as a family outing over the weekend, but I managed to pull it off. Better late than never.

And I hope I'd make the next one with better quality too.

Looks good so far.

Thanks for the confidence vote.

David, I'll be sincere on this.

And I'm glad to announce that the collage work is at the end.

But the story that's told will go on for the next two or three pages, though Be patient.

I've worked on an outline for the next several chapters which will include a couple new characters and have some character experiments that will splash over to Blood and Metal, if all goes well.

Part two of the recap scene, so more stock photos. With the way I doctored everything up, they all fall into the "Collage" rule.

I'll have some artwork in the next strip as the storyteller brings you and Melody up to speed.

Look at all those jagged edges. Yet another reason not to use Open Source software, it doesn't even have anti-aliasing. :/

True, especially with the small files I sampled to get the background. But it didn't have to come from real life anyway for this strip, did it?

disagree. some free software such as paint.NET have enough tools inspired by PSP including anti aliasing.
Interesting page nevertheless.

Took me a long time in waiting, but I finally got back to the comic strip we all know and love. Or is it loathe? I can't tell with some of you people.

This chapter will focus on Melody and "Auntie Scarlet" and "Mister Pippkin" as she wraps her head around what is happening to her and her mother, and of this mysterious lab with an plan that makes Michael Eisner a boy scout.

---

Erh, Why Michael Eisner as a boy scout?

You don't know much about the corporation Scarlet is about to investigate, do you? There are things they'll do Mikey Boy here won't.

Eisner left Disney nearly two years ago, don't you think it's time for a new whipping boy?

Eisner-hate is totally passe now.

Mmh, can't quite think of anything morally unthinkable or so horrible not a human would think about it... unless it is some sort of hideous rape lab, complete with mutilation chambers, places where machines sodomize the eye sockets of the guinea pigs until they rip off the top of their skulls; where they feed the dead to those still alive and sane enough to eat. In fact, nope, not quite hideous enough...

Hope you can impress me, at least with a proper plot twist.

Dude, we're talking Amusement Park Technology Research Lab, not the frigging Al Queda

I'm surprised that I'm able to get through this week with it being my birthday and all. Not only did i get Lost Boy Found published at this [link] , but I also got a pair of fish for my tank as well as Final Fantasy XII (Had to get it. Illivace (sp?) has the best Moogles! Why can't Kingdom Hearts have Monteblanc in it?)

In a more serious note, I had to get to a quick chapter break since it's been tougher for me to make strips. Mostly it's because of the plot suggestions you want me to address from earlier strips, but there's also the thought that I should take Scarlet PI to a text series as well as continue this strip. Maybe I could even pause the strip for a while while I NaNoWriMo (a Verb in my vocabulary, where I write a book as fast as I can.) "Murder on Main Street USA" I think I can make a decent 70,000 first draft within 45 days. Give or take a week.

But what do you think about this? Think I should step back and think on where to go from here as I rework the introduction into a novel? What say you?

---

I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Do. What. YOU. Want.

If continuing Scarlet and friends in novel form tickles you, go for it. If you feel like reverting back to comic form later, go for it. It's YOUR gig, David.

Rewrite the whole damn thing if you like! Your choice of creativity should not be subject to prior public approval.

This comic has meandered through so many agenda since strip 1, maybe writing it all again in a shorter burst will tie it all together more coherently for you and you'll have a better idea where the story should go afterwards.

---

"Snoggle"?

Is that like a cross between snogging and snuggling?

^-^ You can say that

Gasp!

---

DONT MAKE IT TEXT KEEP THE COMIC! KEEP THE COMIC! KEEP THE COMIC! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASEEEE!!!!

It will help your more artistically and creativally if you keep drawing comics Like Scarlet PI :]

Oh, don't worry, I won't be dropping the comic all together. I just need to get my thoughts straight on the comic, that's all. That's going to take a little time.

The progress of the storyline is getting a little choppy, since I need to put some of the comments you all made from earlier into consideration, but I think I'll pull through it all.

I've also thought about the setting of the upcoming novel series of Scarlet: How about Orlando, Florida, the Amusement Park capital of the world. With all the parts around there, with many of the smaller lesser known ones who'd try to be Happy Fun Land, I'm sure it'll be a perfect setting for an "Amusement Park specialist" in the Orlando PD, right?

---

I been following the comic for a while but we need a recap of who's who please.

Sounds like an excuse to remake the Scarlet PI web page to me. I'll be sure to do that in the coming months.

Gooood gooood!

Sorry, I read those first two lines and my mind wandered into some rather suggestive territory. I am a filthy pervert.

With the newly kigged underclassman of Pippkin out of the way, I can finally get to the point where I can continue with an interesting part of the story. Any suggestions on what to take this? (Need to keep things within DA's guidelines, of course. No Hentai stuff)

Also, that new scanner that's Vista approved is coming this way, so the quality of the strips will improve.

You could have them talk about :

1. how they deal with the fact that they are parasitic and can only live through their hosts.
2. the current situation where they are using hosts of the opposite sex from themselves/one straight host and one gay host.
3. history. they they had lives before the strip started, didn't they?
4. what to do when whoever's trying to get them stages another attack, and how to protect their frenmds and loved ones when it happens.
5. how to continue caring for the daughter of the rabbit's host. Certainly somebody -- school system, pediatrician, relatives -- is eventually going to notice that her mother has dropped off the face of the earth. Will they live openly, as the costume and the human, or will they continue to live as the only face of the host-parasite partnership? Somehow, I don't think any (believable) fictional doctor or social worker will just accept the claims of a large rabbitman.

They are all valid points, especially point #5. That could give Pippkin enough reason to find a way to reverse the process, returning Penn to her daughter. Until that time, Melody's going to have a wild ride living with Scarlet and Pippkin. I'm sure she'll have a lot of questions to ask the two about what they were before what happened. She also has some questions about what might happen to herself as well, caught between reliving her time using Disneyland as Day Care thanks to her mother being a former Castmember, and whatever or not a couple of costumed characters can care for her. This big thing has, indeed, fallen into her lap.

As for the next attack, Pippkin would no doubt have a proactive approach. He could very well gotten the feeb's instructions and find out where they were supposed to take Scarlet and Pippkin at. This would lead up to the first major confrontation.
